AST has undertaken projects around the globe in order to better understand agricultural production in various soils, climate zones & cultures. We have collaborated with seed companies, CRO's and growers in Australia, The Netherlands, Kenya, Argentina & India to test the BioEnsure® product line on various crops. We recognize that each growing location is unique in its physical make-up, potential stress conditions and available resources. We seek to understand the best ways to mitigate these challenges for local growers and increase crop yields. Our most promising trials to date have come from India, where we have achieved impressive results under high stress conditions with a variety of local crops; Wheat, Millet, Okra, Cotton, Maize & Rice. This effort was supported in part by grants from the US-India Science and Technology Endowment Fund and USAID. USAID -- Securing Water for Food
We are also currently working with the USAID under their Securing Water for Food program. We received a 2015 grant to work with Indian farmers in need of local crop yield improvements for areas hit hard by drought and high temperatures. Our goal is to provide growers with seed treating solutions that they can administer themselves using very simple seed treating technology. The intent is to make this technology available to small and large-scale farmers in developing nations at a reasonable cost. We believe that increasing agricultural sustainability and crop yields will decrease human hardship and lead to more social and political stability around the globe. |
