The BioEnsure® products are the first seed treatments to provide protection from extreme ecological conditions using a natural symbiotic process that enables plants to prosper when facing abiotic stress. Our methods mimic how native plants survive in areas of drought, extreme temperatures and saline soils by applying natural symbiotic microorganisms to a broad-spectrum of agricultural crops.
To accomplish this, we have developed a proprietary BioOpt™ technology to generate a library of fungal strains that have long shelf lives and are durable when used with any commercial seed treatment equipment. In addition, the BioOpt™ technology confers the ability of our strains to tolerate a wide array of commercial fungicides.
BioEnsure® products contain a mixture of beneficial fungal endophytes designed to improve the plant's ability to handle Mother Nature’s stresses. This revolutionary breakthrough in seed treatment technology delivers protection from the elements enabling farmers to consistently achieve high yields during stressful growing seasons.
What Makes BioEnsure® Unique?
There are a diverse array of biological products on the commercial seed treating market. However, the fungal organisms we have selected are very distinct from all other available products on the market.
See what makes BioEnsure® different.
When crops are exposed to abiotic stress BioEnsure® provides the following benefits:
Our BioEnsure® liquid formulations are designed for direct application to seeds with existing seed treatment equipment, or by in-furrow application, either alone or mixed with fertilizers. Powder formulations are being developed for application during and post planting.
Seed treatment application :
In-furrow application :
Planter box application :
Fungicide compatibility :
Thiabendazole, Fludioxonil, Metalaxyl, Mefenoxam, Sedaxane, Thiram, Captan, Myclobutanil, Thiophanate, Trifloxystrobin, Afloxystrobin, Hymexazol, Prothioconazole, Difenoconazole, Ipconazole, Penflufen, Tebuconazole
BioEnsure® is not genetically modified which allows it to be registered Organic by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI). OMRI offers independent review of input products intended for organic farming and processing. Their standards are based on the USDA National Organic Program and they are industry leaders in the field of organic certification.
Regulatory status :
Currently, AST is approved to sell BioEnsure® throughout the USA. Import approvals have been acquired for Argentina, Australia and India and we are pursuing approvals in several other countries.
Product shelf life :
The in-jug shelf life of BioEnsure® is 2+ years when stored at refrigeration temperature (39°F / 4°C) and 1 year at ambient temperatures below 75°F (25°C).
On-seed shelf-life was determined by treating corn seeds with two BioEnsure® formulations in the presence and absence of Plant Protection Packages (PPP’s). Viability (N=10) was assessed by placing seeds onto 0.1x PDA agar medium and measuring the growth of the BioEnsure® fungi off of the seeds after 10 days. The (+) symbols indicate that the fungal growth off fungicide treated seeds was similar to growth from seeds without the fungicides. The (-) symbols indicate no growth of the fungus. The two BioEnsure® formulations were designed to be compatible with their respective PPP’s. While some evaluations are ongoing, the table below shows that the on-seed shelf life is more than 1 year for each formulation.
