We are a socially conscious biotechnology company addressing the greatest limitations to agricultural and natural ecosystems globally; drought, salinity, and temperature stresses. Our approach is based on more than 150 years of research on symbiotic interactions between plants and microorganisms.
Over the last 25 years, our team of scientists has discovered that certain types of symbiotic fungi, known as endophytes, are capable of conferring several benefits to plants. With this knowledge, we have developed a series of microbial seed and plant treatments to confer stress tolerances to crop plants.
We have coined our first line of products BioEnsure® and they are dedicated to increasing the tolerance of crop plants to abiotic stresses such as drought, salinity and temperature stress. Products are developed for a wide variety of cereals, pulses, vegetables and industrial crops. These products are currently prepared in liquid formulations (powder formulations are being developed) for application on seeds or plant tissues. Liquid formulations can be applied using any seed treatment equipment, and can be applied under, in-conjunction with, or over commonly used Plant Protection Products (PPP's). Tests revealed that the BioEnsure® microbes are non-toxic, non-pathogenic and safe to handle. In addition, field testing has shown that the organisms do not grow into seed or fruit and do not establish in soil.
BioEnsure® is NOT genetically modified and is registered as organic by OMRI, the Organic Materials Review Institute.
2012 - 2017 BioEnsure® Field Testing
We are in our eleventh season of field testing our products in locations (red asterisks in the above map) representing different climate zones (temperate, subtropical, desert) and numerous soil types across the globe. Field results have demonstrated that level of crop yield response to BioEnsure® is based on the extent, severity and timing of abiotic stress that plants experience, irrespective of climate zone and soil type (see field results). During low stress growing seasons, BioEnsure® treated seeds increase crop yields an average of 2-6%. However, during high stress growing seasons, BioEnsure® treated seeds increases crop yields an average of 10-50% (see field results).

This research encompasses many plant and fungal species in habitats encompassing temperate, subtropical and desert ecosystems on several continents around the world. Our intent is to make this technology available to small and large-scale farmers in first world and developing nations. We believe that increasing agricultural sustainability and crop yields will decrease human hardship and lead to more social and political stability around the globe.
